  Hi there,

  I am a complete newbie to wordpress and I apologize if my questions has been asked before but searching through the forum is real hard for me due to the internet speed in my country.

  1) I am trying to make a eCommerce website, to be precise a tourism company website and hence I was wondering if I can remove the ‘ comments ‘ section from my site? Will the comments part be auto removed if I buy my own domain?

  2) The installer from wordpress.org, can that be used to edit my blog on wordpress.com? Is it easier and faster or is it same as the edit feature on wordpress.com?

  You need to know that blogger initiated advertising is not allowed on any free hosted WordPress.com blog. We cannot advertise or sell any products we do not personally create or sell services we do not personally provide on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. If you do require an ecommerce site, advertising, affiliate links, paid or sponsored content you can hire a web host and get a free software install from http://wordpress.org

  There is no upgrade, aside from a VIP hosting upgrade http://vip.wordpress.com/our-services/ that you can purchase that allows blogger initiated advertising on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. You will have to hire a web host and set up your own WordPress.org install to run your own advertising.

  E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by WordPress.com. Paid content and/or sponsored content is not allowed.

  (1) Yes we can enable and disable comments on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
  This page > Settings > Discussion
  Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.

  We can also override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.

  I hope you understand that you are in the wrong place. You cannot conduct ecommerce on any free hosted WordPress.COM blog. That can only be done on a WordPres.ORG install.
