Comments Anonymity

  Hi All,

  I noticed that if I click on the avatar of anyone that comments my blog, I can see their full profile, including email address, telephone number and what not.

  How can I protect their data?
  Since the blog I’ve created is public, and I’d like to keep it that way, how can I ensure that at least other visitors cannot see other people’s personal details ?

  What you see is normal. Don’t reveal it and it will be protected. No other visitors can see it.

  Note that there will be auto-filled information in a contact form or a comment box but your information is visible to you when you are logged in and have not cleared your browser cache and cookies. No one else can see it.

  When someone makes a comment on your blog, unless they have cleared their cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies, WordPress.com will recognize them and complete the details for them. No one else will be able to view those details in comment boxes or in contact forms. The next person who comments will see blank fields. Commenters will not see each others details.

  Additional information:
  There is an Admin Edit link on posts and pages that only you as Admin and any Editors you have created can see when you are logged in. It’s for your convenience and your visitors cannot see it. You cannot remove it as it’s coded into the theme templates and we cannot edit templates or themes.

  If you log out, clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then visit your site without logging in that links will not appear to you.
