Comments are don't appear on my about page

Someone noticed that comments were disabled on the ‘About’ page of my blog (www.malcolmscorner.wordpress.com). I changed the settings to allow comments but there is still no comment box. Can you please help.

Hi Malcolm!
Your theme Fresh News has some additional options found as “Theme Options” here:
https://malcolmscorner.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=woothemes
One them is called “Post/Page Comments” and it’s currently set to Posts only. Those Theme Options take importance over the default WordPress options, so that’s why the comments aren’t being allowed on your Page.
If you’ll adjust that option to “Pages/Posts” and click Save All Changes, that should clear this up.

Thank you for the prompt reply. That worked. I used to have comments on this ‘About’ page but somehow the settings must have changed. Is there anyway to get back the old comments from this page?

Hi Malcolm,
Any comments on a page that are saved would be visible in the Comments module of that Page’s edit screen. Looking at your About page I see no comments there, so sadly I believe they were not saved.
Normally disabling comments on a page should not delete the records of the comments themselves, but that may be a quirk about these Theme Options.
I do apologize for that circumstance, but I’ll make sure to report the issue.

I’ve been testing out that issue with missing comments today and so far I’ve not been able to replicate a way that the theme options will actually delete existing comments.
When was the last time you had checked the comments on your About page — did you take other actions besides changing themes that I can test?
