comments are jumping or not shown

  In my dashboard I approve a comment and reply to it and it says who I replied to (in response to).

  When I look at my blog from outside all comments are jumping around and doesn’t show what and who I replied to. Very confusing.

  boxes for: show comment and show reply are ticked.

  Do you mean that the nested comments out of order? Your reply doesn’t appear after the comment you are replying to?

  There’s no “Reply” tab on each comment, so nested comments aren’t enabled, so all comments show up in chronological order. If you wish to display them the other way, you need to go to Settings > Discussion, check the option “Enable threaded (nested) comments”, select the number of levels you will allow, scroll down and click Save Changes.
