Comments are not showing

  Comments to my posts are not showing (displaying). I went to the Discussions menu and enabled everything I thought was necessary Windows 7/64 bit – Firefox 4.

  We cannot help you without more information.

  We need the URL of the blog in question, starting with http. We also need to know whether or not the comments are in moderation or approved, and if they’re visible on your dashboard.

  If so I see 4 comments on this post 110 years old, in the family, the second time around. Which post is the one in question?

  When I go to the blog page and look at my posts, I don’t see the comments and the 110 years old, in the family, the second time around is the one. Am I missing something. Wouldn’t be surprised.

  The comments will not show up on the main page of the blog. They will only show up on the single-post page that you get to after clicking the post title or the comments link.

  The reason comments don’t typically show on the main page is that if you got 25 or 50 comments on a post, someone would have to scroll forever to get to the next post and that is a bad user experience. There are a couple sites I visit that get 150 to 750 comments per post. Can you imagine trying to scroll down past all those?

  There is one theme here which will show comments on the main page and it is set up for collaborative groups and such. It is called P2. It is sort of a bizarre, narrowly focused theme in many ways and not everything on it works as smoothly as it should – or at least it didn’t a few months ago. Perhaps staff have given it some lovin’ since then.

  Sacred, that answers the question. But, I may be blind as a bat, but I am not seeing an option to comment on the main page, is that standard as well?

  Well, I went back to the blog and looked, and lurking at the end of the list of tags was, you guess it, comments.

  The comment link is at the end of the metadata (categories/tags) at the end of the post on the main page. Not very prominent, but it is there.
