Comments being moderated on…

  Having spent ages tonight trying to figure out why I seemingly couldn’t get a comment posted (and showing as such) yet being continually told by WP that I’ve already made the comment, it finally dawned on me that it must be a site which holds comments for moderation. Wondering therefore if WP couldn’t put on an automatic note to that effect when a comment is placed since oftentimes blog owners forget to, and since most of the latter equally don’t provide any means of contacting, you’ve no way of knowing if that IS the reason you can’t see your comment being put up. Thanks.

  I know exactly what you mean. Support is closed for WordCamp but please remember to send in a request to staff by way of feedback on Monday and, be sure to include your reasons too. . :)

  Nice eye BTW – I identify with the “green” … lol

  Do you not get that message? Or does it only come up on some templates? I know I just left a comment on one blog and it said “your comment will appear after administrator approval” or suchlike, in italics right above the comment.

  It seems to be theme dependent because it does not display on all themes.

  Tks so much for the feedback. I was using WordPress along with CoComment, and wasn’t sure if perhaps CC caused the glitch, but have found it sometimes on other blogs that you don’t get that moderator message – maybe does depend on theme and/or browser. “Eye” by the way comes from my wonderful cat Tikvah – he’s got unequal pupils and I’d taken a photo of them to show to the vet, but they were so huge and striking I figured I’d use one for an avatar – more striking than 2 sometimes!

  I’m pretty sure that the “Your comment is in moderation message” is theme dependent. Let’s wait and see if someone with expertise chimes in.

  P.S. My husband has a cat with green eyes too – so, that makes two of us … lol

  I would like to be able to tell people who leave comments that their comments will be posted after review or moderation.

  I understand, from these other posts, that there’s some thought that the “Your comment will appear after administrator approval” message is “theme” dependent.

  I really don’t care to choose a different theme just for this one notification feature.

  IS there any way, using the “Quentin” theme (my preferred theme), to either enable a canned message that will alert the potential commentor that their comments will be held for moderation, or to enter my own notification message to potential commentors?
