Comments button not showing on SOME posts

The comments button is not showing up on some of my posts, but is on others.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ok, I see that I had turned off “the allow comments” button, or rather it had defaulted to that when I changed to an “all-moderation” setting in that same window.
My NEW problem is that the two or three articles I wrote under that mistaken setting will not return to the “allow comments” setting.
Any solution? ty AB

I did a “test post” with my new settings and got a comment/reply button on the button and then immediately trashed it, since it was just a test.

Thanks for that! I see what happened. If you open that post in the Post Editor, and scroll down to the Discussion module, you can see that “Allow comments” is unchecked:
If you don’t see the Discussion module, click on “Screen Options” at the top of your windows. Check the box next to “Discussion.”
Once you update the post, your posts will have comments open again.

What is the “post editor”? In “dashboard” I summoned a list of all my posts and then clicked “edit.” It looked like it was already set to “allow comments”. I hit “update” and still it’s the same.
I must not be in the right “post editor” –where is that?

Sorry about that! The post editor is exactly where you described.
When you open the post you linked me to below, you see the ‘Allow Comments’ box checked? Can you send me a screenshot? You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there.

Thank you so much Shawna J. ! It’s all good now, so I will close this topic as successfully resolved.
What happened was that “discussion” wasn’t shown on my post editor, and when I added it under “screen options” it didn’t show up right away.
But when I went back to take a screenshot for you–there it was, with the “allow comments” button unchecked.
So now everything is fixed and thanks again!
