comments closing

  I don’t want my comments to close so I didn’t tick the automaticall close comments box…but older posts are showing ‘comments closed’. I went in and changed that to automatically close comments after 3000 days thinking that may help, but it didn’t. How can I stop the comments from closing ? Any ideas please.

  It doesn’t take effect retroactively. You’ll have to go to each of those old posts and change them to open up comments again.

  how – I’ve gone to old posts but can’t find anything on the post’s editing page to let me change it

  You override the default discussion settings in the Discussion module of the post editor. If you’re not seeing the Discussion module while on the post editor screen, click Screen Options (top right) to activate it.

  But for already published posts bulk editing is a lot faster. Go to Posts > All Posts, tick the little square to select many posts at once, select Edit from the Bulk actions pulldown, click Apply, select Allow from the Comments and Pings pulldowns, click Update. Repeat for other pages of posts, if necessary.

  @rain: It works – as long as the option “Automatically close comments on articles older than n days” in Settings>Discussion is disabled.
