Comments disabled

I need your help urgently. My latest post doesn’t seem to have the option box to leave a comment. Please can you help me with this?

Hi there,
Go to My Site → Site → Posts. You will be able to see all your posts.
The post where you are not able to see the comment box, open that particular post and then follow the steps from the link shared above.If you would like enable/disable comments for a group of posts or pages, go to your WP Admin by adding /wp-admin/ to the URL like

It doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve also gone into WP Admin and checked ‘allow comments’ but to no avail 😕

I’m able to get through all fine with the instructions except when I click on all Posts, select the post I want the comments to appear on, there’s no ‘more options’ section for me to click on allow comments 😕

No need to deactivate. Here you will be able to see the setting symbol on the topmost right side. Click on that setting symbol and you will be having two options:
Document and Block. Select the document option and scroll down. Here you can see the discussion option, click on it and check if allow comments checkbox is enabled or disabled. Enable the checkbox and click on the update button to save changes and publish. -
Sorry where do I find the setting symbol?
So I log into my WordPress, then I select settings and do I find it there for me to follow the steps above? Apologies I’m terrible with technology 😖

I’m so sorry I’m just unable to follow it through. My apologies for wasting your time. I’m sure it’s something quite straight forward but I just don’t know where to click for the Document and block section.. 🙄

Oh thank you so much for this, it’ll help me a great deal. My apologies again, as I’m terrible with the technology side of things. I will look forward to someone taking a look remotely and hopefully have it all resolved.

Hi Sheema,
please go to My Site>Site>Posts and open the post in question. On the right you will see a sidebar with settings. The last setting you will see will be “More options”, click there and you will find the box where you’d be able to allow comments:

I’ve logged into my WordPress Admin, Ive selected Site, then Posts but cannot see the sidebar with settings. Am I doing something wrong? 🤔

Did you click on the title of the post to open it? Do you need to click on the settings “cog” top right?
