Comments Disappear

  Does anyone know why comments shown on my blog disappear for older posts? I cannot find an answer for this.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I not sure what you mean by disappear because mine older comments don’t disappear. What I do know is that you may want to see these settings > Settings » Discussion Settings > Other Comment Settings

  Thank you very much for your reply.

  If you look at my blog http://northernnarratives.wordpress.com
  you will see comments on the first five posts.

  Then the comments all disappear starting with the sixth post. I have checked all my settings and I cannot find the solution.

  Click this link http://northernnarratives.wordpress.com/2012/03/09/weekly-photo-challenge-contrast/ and you will find the comments because you are viewing the post on it’s onw page. Let me explain this please. In a new blog one does not have many posts or comments. In an established blog with many comments if the comments did not collapse on the front page there would be serious performance drawbacks. The page would take a long time to load and page loading time is a page ranking factor. We have only seconds before visitors refuse to wait and click out.

  The front pages of our WordPress blogs are designed to load quickly and showcase content so comments are collapsed on that page. By clicking the comments link or the post title on the front page the posts will open on their own page where all comments display below them. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/06/06/wordpress-front-page-comment-display/

  You’re welcome and not to worry. I have blogged for 7 years (almost 6 here at wp.com) and I’m still learning new things every day. :)

  The comment bubble on your main page has disappeared from older posts because commenting on them is disabled. If you don’t want that, you need to go to Settings > Discussion, uncheck the option “Automatically close comments on articles older than [n] days”, scroll down and click Save Changes.
