Comments do not appear
-
Hello. My class website is elizabethshum150portfolio.wordpress.com and I am completely unable to have comments displayed. I checked allow comments under the homepage, post, etc. I can add the recent comments widget but it doesn’t allow more than the first part of the comment to be displayed. I don’t understand what’s going on. Help!
Thanks! -
Hi there! The home page of blogs on WordPress.com are designed to show posts only. To view the comments, a visitor must click on the post first then they will be able to read the comments.
There are a few options to consider.
1. You can keep what you have now.
2. Switch to a different theme which displays the number of comments on each post on the home page. For example, this is the Sapor theme demo site: https://sapordemo.wordpress.com/
If you scroll down the home page, you will see under each post title, “1 Comment”, “2 Comments”, etc.
Many themes do this, but here are a few more:
Curauno: https://wordpress.com/theme/cerauno
Nucleare: https://wordpress.com/theme/nucleare
Libre 2: https://wordpress.com/theme/libre-23. You could also switch to the collaboration theme, called “P2”. It does display comments on the home page. It is quite a change from what you have now, however. Here’s a great write up on P2 and how it can be used.
If you have any questions about either of these options let me know. :)
