comments do not appear on mac but appear on iphone

I’m experiencing a problem with my blog theambassadorswife.wordpress.com.

    • I’m using the Twenty Seventeen theme.
    • All my content is made up of posts, not pages.
    • Comments are enabled globally in Settings > Discussion.
    • Comments are also allowed on individual posts (I’ve checked using both the post editor and Quick Edit).
    • I’ve approved comments, and I can see them listed here:
      https://theambassadorswife.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?p=107&comment_status=approved
    • Despite all of this, the comment section does not appear at the bottom of my posts when viewing the site—especially on desktop.
    • I’ve tested this on multiple browsers and devices. On mobile, it sometimes shows up; on desktop, it’s consistently missing.
    • I’ve also tried:
    • Switching to other themes (like Twenty Twenty-One)
    • Clearing browser cache
    • Creating new test posts with comments enabled
    • Checking that no custom CSS is hiding the comment section
    • Nothing worked.
    • Is this a bug or is there a way to solve this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi @anitalekic,

I understand you’re having trouble viewing the approved comments on your site. I tested your site — theambassadorswife.wordpress.com — on a Mac, a Windows PC, and an iPhone, and I was able to view the same two approved comments across all devices. You can see what I’m seeing here: https://cln.sh/NSmTY4vM

You mentioned you’ve already cleared your browser’s cache, but the issue persists. Please keep in mind that clearing your cache doesn’t always remove all stored data, as some elements may still be retained by your device or browser. As an alternative, you can:

    • Try accessing the site from a different internet connection or network.
    • Ask a friend to check the page to see if they encounter the same issue.
    • Use a cross-browser testing tool to view how the site appears from different browsers or connections.

Lastly, since you’re on a paid plan, we encourage you to reach out to us through the private support channel rather than the public forums. Paid plan customers receive priority 24/7 support from our Happiness Engineers.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

No, none of those worked. But I solved the problem myself, thanks, and the solution was in themes.

    Hi @anitalekic,

That’s excellent news — great job! Would you mind sharing what specifically in the theme was causing the issue? Your insight could be really helpful for others who might encounter the same problem and come across this post.

I look forward to hearing back from you. And if you have any other questions, feel free to let me know!

I’m not quite sure but I think I switched templates, went to the editor, chose add commenets, saved, and then switched back to the old template.

    Hi @anitalekic,

Oh, I see. Since you were using the classic theme Twenty Seventeen, switching to a block theme changes some things, which could have affected the comment section. It works a bit differently on block themes. If you are considering switching to block themes in the future, this is a good guide to get started: Switch from a Classic Theme to a Block Theme.

Here are other guides that you might find helpful:

Since you’re on a WordPress.com Business plan, you also have access to direct support. If you need help with any other issue or changing to a block theme, please reach out to us through the Help Center: Help Center.

Let me know if that helps.

It’s possible the issue is caused by the theme’s settings or a plugin conflict rather than WordPress itself. In Twenty Seventeen, check Customizer > Theme Options to ensure “Show Comments” is enabled for posts. If that’s fine, try disabling all plugins temporarily to see if one is hiding the comment section on desktop, then re-enable them one by one to find the culprit.
