Comments don't appear when logged into WordPress
-
Here is what I do:
Draft a comment to a blog post.
Put in my email address, name, website.
Click “Post Comment”.
Get the following message: “You are being asked to login [to WordPress] because [email address] is used by an account you are not logged into now. By logging in you’ll post the following comment to [title of post]”
After logging in, I am returned to the comment page but my comment doesn’t appear.
When I try posting it again, I get the message, “Duplicate comment detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that!” But I didn’t, because my comment wasn’t posted.
The only way I can get the comment to post as usual, is to put in a false email address, i.e. pretend I’m not me. When I do that, the comment appears as it’s supposed to. But then I don’t get notified when people reply because of the bad email address.
It seems to be the fact that I’m a registered WordPress user that screws up my ability to comment. If I don’t log in to WordPress then my comments post fine. It’s only when I log in that I have a problem.
But the way, it’s a WordPress blog (someone else’s) that I’m trying to comment on.
I would appreciate any information. Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The blog I need help with is NOT agellius.wordpress.com. That line was put in automatically. The blog I’m having trouble with is actually vox-nova.com.
Thanks

How many username accounts do your have?
Exactly which username account registered http://vox-nova.com/ ?You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered any blog to access it.
Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then

vox nova is not a blog of mine. It’s a blog that I’m trying to comment on.
I only have one blog.

The vox-nova.com blog requires you to fill out an email address to comment. You will need to use the email address you have associated with your account WordPress.com, which will then authenticate your email address.
The reason the fake email addresses work is that they are not already associated with an account with us. So, if you want to comment as “you”, with your Gravatar, you will need to use the email address associated with the agellius account.

Yes. But the problem, as I said, is that when I log in as myself, using my own email address, my comments do not appear. I am forced to use a false email address in order to make my comments appear on the blog. This doesn’t seem right to me. Does it seem normal to anyone else?
-
I am experiencing a similar problem myself: my own blog is forcing me to sign in again to comment when I’m already signed in. This occurs on only one of my blogs. It seems to me that your comments must be being held in moderation for some reason.

Agellius, to confirm: you are logged into WordPress.com, and you are using the email address associated with your WordPress.com account when you comment, but the comment doesn’t appear. Meanwhile, when you use an entirely different address, your comment goes through right away?
If this is correct, it could be that your email address is being flagged by Akismet as spam. You can contact the Akismet crew here for further assistance: http://akismet.com/contact/

Raincoaster:
All comments on Vox Nova are held in moderation, but they still (normally) appear on the screen with a message saying that they are being held in moderation. My problem is that when I log in to WordPress they are not appearing at all.
Why is it so hard to communicate something like this to WordPress? You would think they would want to know about bugs like this so that they could work them out.

Jackie: I can’t explain it any better than I did in my original post, which gives a step-by-step explanation of the situation I am talking about. I am NOT logged into WordPress at the start. WordPress makes me log in as part of the comment posting process. When I DON’T log into WordPress my comments post fine.
Thanks anyway for trying to help.
