Hi – I left a comment on two separate blog sites and received not only the person’s response comment but some comments from/to them from other posters. I am wondering why and how I can delete the comments from my blog that have nothing to do with my communications and/or blogs. My blog’s name is “like water on a rock or off a duck’s butt.” Thank you for your help! Also, thank you for fixing the comments and category problems! junemoon

If people have left comments on your blog, you can edit or remove them by going to Dashboard > Comments. Some people consider that bad etiquette, though, so you might want to have some kind of a disclaimer on your blog as to what your commenting policy is. You also might want to change the moderation of comments on your blog; if you set it so you have to approve new comments before they appear, you’ll have more control over what people see. You can do that in Dashboard > Options > Discussion.

are you saying you got comments on your blog that should have been attached to a post on a different blog?
I don’t really understand what you’re getting at; can you give us a link to a post with these comments?

OMG. I was not complaining about receiving comments on my blog that were meant for my blog! Of course not. I welcome comments on my blog that are meant for my blog. I am talking about comments that were meant for someone else’s blog that are on my comments in my blog. I am new at this and realize that I don’t know the lingo or the know how to understand or do a lot of the stuff myself so really appreciate this forum. I will try and figure out how to attach a link so you can see what I’m talking about. I think it may have something to do with the ‘thread’ but can’t figure it out beyond that yet.

this sounds like the “My Comments” feature to me.
and no, despite of its might be a misleading title, it’s not your comments on that page, including those very ones posted by yourself as well.
they are not on your blog — hence they can’t be deleted.
also, according to WP “design” comments you’ve posted on someone’s other wp.com blog, are not yours anymore since the moment you hit a submit a comment button. so you can’t delete them either.

Also as bloggers do not close comments on old posts when either a comment or some spam is posted months later in response to someone else’s post or comment – there it is again. In “Your Comments” – you get them all again – every time.
