Comments from password protected post being emailed to ALL comment subscribers

I have created a password protected post. The post is only accessible to those readers who have the password, but a person whom I did NOT give the password to just emailed me to say that, while she cannot view the original post without the password, all the COMMENTS on the post are being emailed to her.
How do I turn off sending comments by email to all followers when the post is password protected?

I am working on a post I plan to have password protected and trying to find out if others had any troubles with password protection, I found this. I have no idea if any one follows all of my blog’s comments or just certain posts, so I hesitate to even bother with this post I am working on, if the comments themselves are in a way made public.

I am going to tag this for staff. Last night I searched all over my admin pages trying to find who might have chosen to follow ALL comments on my blog, since I have that option through the Reader>Blogs I follow. I see comments followed on individual posts (Stats page), but no way to find out who those comment followers are and if they happen to also follow all comments.

I figured out how to fix this. Go to your dashboard:
settings –>discussion–>uncheck the “follow comments” option

That doesn’t work completely. It will work for those who visit individual posts and if the option is not there, they cannot follow comments on those posts.
If someone already has chosen to follow ALL posts through their Reader this will not over-ride it. As you learned from someone receiving comments on your password protected post even though they did not have access to it.
To see what I mean, go to Reader> Blogs I follow>Edit. Randomly choose any blog you follow> Edit> Send new comments by email> On/off.

I guess I should ask this:
Once you turned off that option, did that person continue receiving comments from the Password protected post? And have you written any other PP posts since that time? If so, did anyone not given access to that post receive comments?
If that did solve your issue, than I got a little mixed up. I have known the options available through the Reader often over-rides the wishes of the blog authors.

No, they told me that they did not continue to receive comments from the PPpost after I turned off that option.
