Comments from Vimeo on WordPress post

So I’ve got an idea that I’d love to solve. I would like my comments from a video posted on Vimeo to also show up on a corresponding post on my blog/portfolio site. There is a WP Plugin to achieve this with YouTube which can be found below:
I have been told that Vimeo’s API allows for comment retrieval and was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction to re-engineer this YouTube plugin to achieve the same effect with Vimeo.
