Comments in Footer
-
Hey all,
I set up a new blog but when viewing a particular post, the commenting field is way down, below where the sidebar ends. See here: http://blurringborders.com/2008/05/21/charlie-rose-jonathan-zittrain/
Is this just the theme? Can I change it at all to be in the main column so readers actually see it?
-
I’m 91% sure this is the theme. I see it quite often, and you’re right, it’s not as good as it could be. There’s nothing you can do short of the CSS upgrade or changing themes to change the positioning, though.
-
I use that theme on one of my blogs and that’s how it behaves for me too. So I’ll up rain’s 91% to 98%.
-
Okay, I figured as much. If I did upgrade to custom CSS, do you have any idea if that would be a simple fix or something I’d have to get decent w/ CSS for?
-
As a CSS-numbskull with the CSS upgrade, I have to say you’d better get decent with CSS to do anything. But you can preview to your heart’s content, thankfully.

A friend uses the .org version of Tarski on a self-hosted blog and I just checked how that behaves. The comment box involved no scrolling to reach it. How that was achieved, I don’t know.
-
I do think this is something staff should fix. How hard can it be? Most themes don’t behave this way.
-
I agree. I’m pretty sure there’s at least one other org version of that theme – 3 columns sted 2. But whether it’s .php or CSS that needs to be tinkered with is unclear to me. I’d also like the option to do away with that footer.
