Comments missing YouTube links

  Hi WordPress folks,

  Starting this week, when I go into “Manage Comments,” I don’t see any of YouTube links or embeds…they’re all stripped out. They still appear on the live site, so this isn’t a huge deal…but, the nature of my site is such that my readers submit a LOT of YouTube links, so it would be nice to be able to see them from within my Dashboard.

  Is this a known bug, or a setting that got changed somewhere?

  Hi Andy,

  This happens when the user is commenting with the YouTube link on its own line, which would normally trigger the YouTube video to be embedded. The Comment page does not display the embeds, likely to save room on the comment moderation page. However, the YouTube link still displays in email notifications, the “Edit Comment” page, and on the actual comment as you mentioned. On the comments where the YouTube embed is appearing on the Comment page, the link was not placed on its own line, which means it didn’t trigger an embed. Does that make sense?

  Thanks for the reply, Jeremey. Is this a change in previous functionality? I’ve never seen it before this week. In the past, even YouTube links on their own line always appeared embedded in the Comments moderation view on my Dashboard. Now they don’t appear in that view, either as links or embeds. I’d really like to get that functionality back if possible, as there’s no other way in a single screen for me to review all those user comments. I’m going to lose a lot of time hunting through either my emails or various pages on the actual site.
