Comments not appearing

I wonder if i’m the only one having this problem…
My friend told me that he had left comments on my blog but they didn’t appear at all. I don’t have comment moderation on and i didn’t see any new comment in my dashboard either.
So i asked him to re-enter the exact same comment with the same details, and he got this message instead:
“Duplicate comment detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that!”Can someone pls advise what went wrong? Thanks!

Problem resolved.
I’ve discovered that my friend’s comments were marked as spam and thus they weren’t displayed. I’m not sure how WordPress identifies spam, but now i know i should be checking the “spam box” everyday to make sure no comment is wrongly placed there.

Question… when you check the box not spam, then click the tab at the bottom called not spam… what happens to the comments.
Where do the legitimate comments go.. I have done this and the comments have disappeared on me.

Yeah… just wondering where the not spam comments go… are they suppose to go to awaiting moderation.. if that is so, it didn’t happen for me.
I don’t know if they have disappeared forever, or what.
Has anyone had this problem of allowing not spam comments and checked the box and then clicked the not spam button at the bottom.
Where should these comments go??

They should go onto the post where the comment was originally made.
Check your “manage” “Comments” under the dashboard and see if they’ve appeared there.

Nope.. they didn’t.
Luckily they weren’t really big comments.
I am in contact with the commentor, and I will ask that she comments again.
I hope that it doesn’t happen again.. it shouldn’t though, because I have a succesful trackback from another site.

Hi, I’ve just made a couple of comments on 2 posts on my blog and both of them did’t show. In fact the second time I tried posting a same comment in a post, a page with the warning “this comment has already been made” showed up.
Where are they then? -
Have you looked at Dashboard -> Manage -> Comments? How about Dashboard -> Manage -> Akismet Spam?

Never mind. Your IP address has a *LONG* history of spam.
I count it listed with no less than 21 different anti-spam sites going back to 2003.
And it’s an open proxy which leads to internet abuse.
That’s probably why.

Dashboard -> Options -> Discussion -> Uncheck the box labeled “An administrator must always approve the comment” and click on Save Changes.
