Comments not appearing

  I am fairly new to blogging and it seems that when I first started, we had a couple of comments, that came to me , I approved them and they posted. Now I have people saying they are writing comments and I am not receiving an email notifying me nor am I seeing them in the pending section of my comments dashboard. Please help
