Comments not published

What does it mean if I post a comment on a WordPress blog and it just disappears, without ever showing the message that it’s “awaiting moderation”? Does it mean it’s just been deleted by the blogger and not published, or has it gone into the spam folder, or is it a fault with WordPress?

It’s as it says … your comment will be moderated by the owner of that site. The owner is the only one who decides whether a comment will be shown or not …

No, I mean it doesn’t show the message “your comment is awaiting moderation”. It doesn’t say anything, the comment just disappears.
What happens is I write the comment and get a message saying I have to sign in to submit it. So I sign in and submit the comment and then I’m just back on the other person’s blog, with no sign of the comment I just submitted. Has it gone to spam? Can it be awaiting moderation if there’s no message saying that? Or has it just not submitted it?
