Comments Not Showing On the Post They Are Referring To

I don’t really know why, but most of the comments on my blog are posting to one particular post ( http://paulissaisms.com/2013/04/11/once-upon-my-time/ ) rather than the post that the reader is replying to. This is making things confusing for readers and me when I try to respond to questions.

The blog in question is paulissaisms.com

I want all of the comments to appear on this page and on the respective posts: http://paulissaisms.com/curious-lens-goddess-entertains-the-muse/

How do I fix this problem?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. I was able to post a comment (which is currently in moderation) on the blog post entitled “Comment Issues.” Check your comments to see if it’s there.

It may be, since you’re using a static page for your home page, and another page for your blog post listing, you may need to turn off commenting for the “blog page.”

Go to http://paulissaisms.com/curious-lens-goddess-entertains-the-muse/ while logged into WordPress, hover over the name of your blog in the menu bar and click the “Edit” link.

On the edit screen, click Screen Options, and make sure “Discussion” is checked. Then, scroll down towards the bottom of the page and make sure “Allow comments” and “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page” are UNchecked. Then Update the page.

Thank you. I saw the test comment.

Makes sense. But if I want all of the comments to go to the blog posting list, will the recommendation above take care of that or do I need to make the blog page the static page?

Comments are designed to go on specific blog posts and pages. If you want to display a list of comments across your entire blog, you could add the “Recent Comments” widget to your sidebar. That would be the only way to aggregate the comments from across all of your blog posts.

So my question is this: Can I turn off the commenting on the static page (which is now the home page) and get them to stay WITH the blog posts on the Pardon My Muse Page. They need to be with the posts on that page or it is impossible to reply appropriately to reader’s comments.

You can (and should) turn off comments for the static page that is your home page. That way any future comments will be posted to the correct blog entry.

Unfortunately, there is no way to move comments from one post to another, so you will either have to leave the current comments where they are, or delete them.
