comments off

    Hi,
I keep checking the 2 boxes in the discussion panel Discussion

    Allow comments.
Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.

And still, comments are off after updating the published post. It is also the first time I experience having comments for a post off by default. Anyone has dealt with this before?

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The main page for default settings for comments is here > Settings > Discussion please look over those settings very carefully and be sure they are not causing the problem such as this one:

Automatically close comments on articles older than __ days – This setting can be used to have comments closed on articles that are X days old. As an example, if you only want articles to accept comments for 30 days you would check the box and type 30 into the text field.

RATS! I failed to click your username and it’s NOT linked to a free hosted WordPress.COM blog. We provide support only for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs on this forum. WordPress.ORG installs run on different software. You are posting to the wrong support forum for that site. Post here please http://wordpress.ORG/support/

    not .org

Anyway, I’ve had the blog for nearly 3 years, why would the default settings just go haywire?

On a post I just wrote this afternoon. I didn’t click on anything unusual.

OK after checking the boxes and updating the post at least 15 times, it finally worked. Persistence paid off, hehe!
    Thanks anyways.

Oh my goodness! I made a mistake above and copied information by accident that I did not mean to. Please ignore everything above. I’ll get Staff to remove my comment. Please simply focus on this one.

    (1) (1) Please link your WordPress.com username to your WordPress.com blog rather than the site it’s linked to now. Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

    (2) I visited your blog and the comments are open. I left a test comment you can delete.

    Comments on the Front Page
The front page is meant to showcase the number of posts you choose to enter here > Settings > Reading. There will be a comments link above, below, or next to each post for your visitors to click. Once clicked the form will open and the commenter’s identification data can be entered and submitted. When the title of the post is clicked it will display the post on a separate page of it’s own along with all the approved comments.
