  Can anyone tell me why my post today has “Comments Off” at the top and how I resolve it?
  Has never happened before so I expect it’s something I did, but I can’t find where to turn it back on

  Click the “edit” link on the post. Below the editor box you will find these two which you must enable:
  Discussion Module
  __Allow comments.
  __Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.
  Then click “Update” in the Publish box.

  Thank you so much. That did it. I didn’t even know that was there. Did I probably inadvertantly change that during my original edit?

  I guess you must have as the default settings is “enabled”. You’re welcome.

  I have the same problem but all my boxes are checked to enable comments and it is still staying “comments off” I’m not sure what to do. :(

  Comments are indeed closed. Have you checked your settings under “Discussion?”

  You probably haven’t checked or unchecked all the correct boxes: go to Settings > Discussion and make sure the option “Automatically close comments on articles older than n days” is not checked.
