"Comments off" But I want to allow comments

  I noticed that within the past week, for some reason, my posts are not allowing comments. I see the “comments off” blurb in the upper right hand corner of my posts.

  I’ve gone to my discussion settings, and I’ve allowed comments (I never DIDN’T allow comments).

  I’ve tried to individually allow comments on those posts that have the “comments off” notification, and I still can’t allow comments.

  I don’t know if I’m supposed to give my site, but it’s tellmewhyimwrong.wordpress.com

  I even signed out and tried to comment as a stranger, and that was a no go. I searched around, and I couldn’t find any answers in the support section. Any ideas?!

  We need a link to a post where you have checked the setting in the discussion module in the post editor and comments are not being allowed.

  I see three comments on your most recent post.

  Check your Comment settings under Discussion and see if you have comments set to close automatically after a certain length of time.

  Here’s the most recent post where comments are not being permitted:

  @raincoaster…The comments you see are for a “sticky post” that was made about two years ago.

  I don’t have the close automatically box checked.

  And on “three-areas-where-the-black-church-must-improve/” when you open that in the editor “allow comments” is checked in the discussion module down below the text area?

  Nope. Every time I check it nothing happens. I keep going back to check it, and it keeps unchecking itself.

  Is the username you are signed in with set as an “admin” on the site?

  Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your computer and then try again.

  Okay. This is a bit frustrating, and I really appreciate your help and quick responses.

  I am the administrator. I signed out, cleared my cache and cookies, restarted my computer signed in, checked “allow comments,” updated the post, and when I scrolled down to where I checked “allow comments,” it was unchecked again.

  I’m completely baffled.

  One last suggestion, have you tried a different browser to see if it is related to the browser you have been using?

  Otherwise, contact staff at http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ . Search for anything, scroll to the bottom, click “no” and then the contact form will appear.
