Comments off on one article

  I want to shut off comments off on only one entry because there are too many and it’s bogging people down.

  Went through help and things I should see as an option to shut the comments off is not there unless I’m blind!

  On an individual post, you have to Edit the post and on the right hand side there’s a Discussion module where you can disable comments. The problem is, I believe if you do this you lose the existing comments.

  Ohhhh, well that wouldn’t be good! Also, on my blog, the discussion module is on the left.

  Faster way: Posts > All Posts, click Quick Edit under post tile, uncheck the options “Allow Comments” and “Allow Pings”, click Update.
  And no, you don’t lose the existing comments.

  @rain: It happens on a few themes by (questionable) design.

  I tried all the things people have posted about – altering fields in the Comment section, Discussion section, and All Posts, but none of it works.

  I’ve also tried five different themes – since people were stating that it may be theme related – but so far no luck. Is this something that WordPress needs to fix? At this point, I’m looking to move on to another web designing tool.

  @qwerkj: All of it works, it’s not theme dependent, and there’s nothing WP needs to fix. What exactly would you like to do?
