Comments on Images

    I must have reported this a year ago and was told it would be fixed. Not so. Still not fixed. Do you people even care?

    My comment widget is set to show comments from Posts, Pages, and Media. It used to show comments from media. It used to work fine. It doesn’t work now. It hasn’t worked for quite some time. And judging by the don’t-care attitude of WP support, it appears that it will never work again.

    I just had a comment made on five different images and none of those comments are showing in my comment widget. The only way I knew about the comments was the notifications I received by way of the WP app on my phone.

    So how many more YEARS is it going to take for you people to finally care enough to fix this problem?

    It was 6 months ago and the Staff person who answered you said there’s no timeline for when it will be fixed.

    Regardless, I’ve tagged this for a Staff update about this issue. Given that it’s now a holiday weekend, you have to wait a little longer for an answer.

    Oh – and also in March 2014 – that’s 22 months ago, but I think media comments worked briefly after that for a while :-)

    @knashermac2009: Well, if waiting 22 months isn’t being patient, or even 8 months, I don’t know what is! :)

    @justjennifer: I hope you get rocks for Christmas because that’s all you deserve for being a smart***, so disappear yourself.

    And let me translate something: “No timeline for a fix” means “They will probably never care enough fix it (at least not in my lifetime)”

    I reported that issue to our team, although I don’t have a timeline for when one of our developers will have a chance to investigate the issue. I’ll let you know if I get an update about that!

    Actually we’ve been hard at work on some heavy projects. I can see this bug report is open and has a few notes where folks were working to isolate the conditions that cause this. We do have notes, but we do not yet have an ETA for a solution.

    I will make note of your request for an update. I’m also going to go ahead and close this thread as well since it has devolved from an already rough start. Please don’t forget we are a community — staff, volunteers, developers, and users alike. Be excellent to each other.
