comments on 'nested' pages

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m setting up my wordpress account as a place for my short stories and sundry. I’m uploading stories as pages under a parent page (called ‘stories’). I want people to be able to comment on individual stories, but the comment box only appears on the parent page, not on the ‘nested’ pages where the stories appear. Is there a way to make comments available there?
    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

The child pages are separate static pages with their own editor and settings. You may enable comments on them just as you have on the parent pages. In fact, I find that comments are enabled on all of the child pages. Have you resolved this issue on your own?

Hi, thanks for the tip! I’ve managed to enable comments on child pages through the dashboard, looking at ‘all pages’ and using the ‘quick edit’ feature. Sadly, comments are not enabled for my child pages by default, and I only seem to be able to do it from outside the page, which is a bit of a hassle, but at least it works now.

    You’re welcome!

Sadly, comments are not enabled for my child pages by default…

This is true for every WordPress.com site. Comments used to be enabled by default, until an update some time ago. I don’t remember if it was earlier this year or last year that it was changed. You’re alone in finding this a hassle. My site content is 98% in pages (806), 2% in posts (16).

    Correction:
Meant to say “You’re not alone in finding this a hassle”
