Comments on Pages

On our website – slaterunsportsmen.com – click on the ‘DISCUSSION’ tab ( the Discussion page comes up normally) – I have several dated entries – this is a Site Page. Some of them have individual pictures and others have a ‘moasic’ set of pictures that I chose to use with several pictures in them.
I noticed that the individual pictures entries – I can NOT click on the picture and then leave a comment. On the moasic pictures – I CAN click on the picture and then leave a comment.
Is this just a ‘Theme’ issue and I have to live with it? Or is there a setting somewhere I am not aware of and I can get the individual pictures to be ‘clickable’ – so comments could be made on those pictures too?
I do NOT have the premium account so I would appreciate any response that talks directly to my ‘free’ account situation – NOT TO a premium account solution. Then – AFTER that – if making those pictures capable of being ‘clicked’ on is ONLY solved by a premium account – then please feel free to comment about how this might be able to be fixed.

If you click on any SINGLE picture – you can’t really.. or it does not allow you to click on the single picture.and this is a location that allows you to comment to a picture you have already ‘clicked’ on (in the mosaic presentation of pictures):
There is a comment box just beneath the picture here.Thanks for taking a look. I’m thinking this is just a Theme issue (that I’ll have to live with) but I hope I’m wrong.

Have you already tried to add a “individual images” gallery to the posts where you are only adding 1 picture? This is a gallery setting but I’m curious if it would allow us to click and open that single picture to leave a comment like we can with the mosaic. Let me know. I can test this too if you want me to take it over.

I go to the media “All” and add images from that. And I have added a single image from that location and when I do so, out in the web-site – it is not ‘clickable’ and thus not able to leave a comment to it.
I added a mosaic yesterday – 3-27-2018 and either of those images are ‘clickable’. The single image added under the 3-17-2018 date.. is NOT clickable. It was added under the media – All choice.
Please, feel free to test this yourself. And let me know if you confirm my observations.
Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I’m thinking that this is just a ‘free’ version issue…. a theme specific issue… but… I could be wrong.

The single image under 3/17 is not clickable because it was not inserted as a gallery like the multiple images from 3/27.
You can add an individual image as a gallery though by using the “individual image” option.
I’ll give it a go now and see if I can get that image to be clickable from 3/17. Hang tight and I’ll report back.

What is the title for the 3/17 entry? I am not finding a post on the page that matches the date.

I think some of my problem is that I am not using the correct words or terms wehn describing some things here. Please let me know and/or correct me if I use a term incorrectly.
For the 3-17 entry-
“3-17-2018:
Still playing around with turkey biots. This is just a BWO version of the 3-13-2018 tie – tied on a size 16 TMC 101 hook. As you can see I am not an expert tyer or experienced with biot bodies.”This (above)is what is under that entry on that blog page.
Then the picture (a single fly) was added under this text. I did this by working from the dashboard. After I was logged on, I hit ‘My Site’ – the I click Blog Posts – then I click Tying.
On THAT page I click where I want to add new content. I usually type a date (of that entry) and then some text – I followed that with the single picture of the fly. I did that by clicking the ‘+ ADD’ symbol at the top of the page. I click “Media”. Then I select and click on a picture that I had added to the media library. I click ‘Insert’ at the lower right corner and the image or picture shows up on the entry I was working on.
I hit ‘Update’ and the page is updated.
The only difference between the 3-17 and 3-27 entry is that I select 2 pictures form the media library and WP shows them as a moasic when I hit insert on that page.

I realize I started talking about the “DISCUSSION” site page but now I’m talking about content on my “BLOG” … is it proper to call it a blog page? (sorry)
It does not seem to matter though, either on the DISCUSSION or on the TYING BLOG ….page…. pictures inserted from the media – that I have uploaded into the media selection on the dashboard – when the image from the media section is ‘Updated’ on either the DISCUSSION or TYING pages…. a single image is not clickable and when two images are ‘Updated’ on to these pages – those are the only pictures that are clickable.

Just to make sure you know – I DO NOT have a premium account. I have the FREE web hosting type of site.
On MY DASHBOARD – I do NOT see ‘Add Gallery’ at the top of a page – I only see “+ Add” at the top of the page I insert pictures on.
When I hit Add – it gives me a choice of 1-Media, 2-Media from Google, 3-Free Photo Library, 4-Contact form, and 4-Paymenty button. I pick media and there I see all the pictures I’ve put there. From this list of pictures I select one… or two and then hit “Insert” at lower right corner of edit page. The image/picture comes up on the edit post page. If only ONE picture was inserted – it is NOT clickable. If two were – they are clickable.
The post format has been set to STANDARD both when one or two pictures were inserted. I just tried to insert with the post format set to image – does same thing – single images are not clickable.

I can’t get a comment box to display on an individual image in a post using the My Sites/Calypso dashboard but it is easy enough to do by editing the image in the classic Media Library via the classic wp-admin dashboard and “edit more details” and scrolling down to “allow comments”. (Add wp-admin to the end of your address). I think the image needs to be saved as a “link to attachment page” also.
