comments on private site

Hello Users registered as contributors on my private site cannot comment on any of the comment forms. I receive an e-mail but the comment does not appear on the site. The box ‘allow people to comment on new articles’ is ticked. What are we doing wrong? Regards Pat
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi landscapeartblog
I think you need to approve the comment please check the support document below and view your comments they might be under pending section as they may need approval from the owner.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-comments/#viewing-your-commentsHope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. However, the comments are not listed in the comments section at all. So there is nothing to approve. I only receive an e-mail with the comment. Otherwise I would not even have known about it. Could it be an issue with the Hemmingway Theme I am using?

PS
The blog I need help with is not the one listed in my reply although that is my main blog. The one which is causing the problems is a private one so you would not be able to view it. -
Hi landscapeartblog
Can you please mention blog address so that staff can check it out for you?
I am tagging this post as ‘modlook’ so that staff can help you out. please wait for some time they will get back to you on this.
Hope this helps.

@landscapeartblog please do include a link to the site in question. As staff, we can take a look to see what’s up.
Also please send more details: you’re saying they can’t comment. Is that because there is no comment form on the posts? Is the form there, but the comments don’t show up? Do they get an error, and if so what error do they get? Any more details you can send will help. Thanks :)

Thanks for coming back to me. Here is the private blog address. Members have tried to enter a comment into the comment form and the comments are sent to my e-mail address but do not show up on the website. On the admin section of the site there is no indication that a comment has been entered. There are no comments pending approval either. As the site´s admin I have tried to enter comments myself with the same unsatisfactory results.
I also run another site with the same private settings where everything works fine. So I was wondering if there was an issue with the theme I am using as that is the only difference between the two sites.
Thanks -

Hi there,
Those members are not submitting comments. They are submitting the contact form on your site. You can find their submissions here:
https://realistartmembers.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=feedback
I don’t see comments enabled on any post or page on your site. Instead, you have a contact form added at the bottom of each.
Contact forms are something completely different from comments, and are intended to allow readers a way to contact you privately. Contact form submissions never appear on the site itself.
To enable comments, edit a post or page and click on More Options. There is a checkbox to enable or disable comments on the specific post or page. You can also enable comments at My Site ->Settings ->Discussion. That will not change the setting for any post or page that’s already published, but it will cause comments to be automatically enabled or disabled on any new content you publish.
You can read more about these two features at these links:

Thank you for your suggestions. I have removed the comment forms but I could not find the “more options” button when editing pages as you suggested. I have enabled the available click boxes in the “discussion” settings but comment click boxes still do not appear at the bottom of the pages. Sorry for causing all this trouble.

Hi there,
Here are the instructions on how to enable comments for posts and pages you’ve already published:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-and-disable-comments-for-published-posts-and-pages/
There are screenshots so that you can find the “More options” button :)

Hi,
Thank you, yet my discussion settings are just as your guide suggests and still there are no “reply” boxes available on any of the pages.I have since found the “more options” box under “improved experience”. Apparently it does not exist for the traditional site editor. I have now managed to enable “reply” on one of the pages using “more options”.
It helps to know where these click boxes are hidden. :-)

I see that the comment boxes appear in all of your pages. If you have any other questions, just let us know and we’ll be happy to help.

Apparently it does not exist for the traditional site editor.
If you’re using the WP-Admin editor to write your posts, then the comment options are in a comments module in the editor. If that module is not visible to you, click Screen Options at the top of the page and make sure that it’s selected there.
