Hello it has been well over three years since I requested assistance but my comments disappeared from the side bar, this happened once before, I tried to put a new widget in place, but please help me get my comments back on the side bar, we had 5,827 hits on our site, and we would we have the reader to sell advertising and support the site now please help

Do youy mean the “Recent Comments” widget? This has just stopped working for me too (I am using Coraline Theme). In place of the comments I get
“There are no public comments available to display”

The Recent Comments widget has stopped working for me too.
I am using the Vigilance theme and get the same notice: “There are no public comments available to display”
Can anyone help please?

Comments on side bar disappeared! This just happened to me today! Why isn’t WordPress answering or addressing this issue?

I’ve checked some other wordpress blogs and over there it is okay.

comments WIDGET on the side bar our site is one of the most popular in all the state of WV and we write about police and political corruption and have new event to write about almost daily

OK. I know which blogs are affected, but I dont like this one bit!!!!
If you allow your blog to be indexed by a Search Engine (Settings -> Read) then you can see your comments.
If you dont allow search engines to look in your blog, or if you want your blog to be privaye (like me) then you cant see recent comments.
I do hope this is a temporary c**k-up

Our blog is at the top of most google pages because we are very popular and have broken many stories in WV we are journalists that fight corruption.
This happened to us once before, we had to change themes, and then change back again and add all the widgets all over again, if I recall.

And we are currently writing about the absurd verdict at the Jacksons vs. AEG trial and also have lots of comments.
The comment widget was the only chance to create a sort of a forum to exchange thoughts. And now the chance is gone and there is no help.
It seems that we were indeed singled out.

Hmmmmm. I managed to see recent comments by just changing the setting I described. No change of theme.
I’ll keep experimenting…..

@knashermak2009, our blog is indexed by a Search Engine but the comments still don’t show on the sidebar.

OK. If I dont display gravatars in the recent comments widget, then it works OK
Whatever the problem – I’m sure people are not being singled out. My blog has no contentious content at all :-)

Our situation involves the big time big shot lobbyist for the press association, and the big wig oil and gas people who was chief of staff for the governor who just got busted soliciting a prostitute, but the cops let him go and kept his name out of the paper with the others arrested, until…..Danny Jones the mayor found out.
We got scooped by the Daily Mail we were 1/2 hour from breaking the story when their paper went out, but we wrote an article 18 months ago accusing Phil Reale of supplying prostitutes for politicians in Charleston, WV …so we had his number a long time ago, because we know him.

@revengeoftheghostewolf, you won’t believe how many funny things are happening around the AEG trial and Michael Jackson in general. I cannot promise you that all of it is about corruption but strange and inexplicable most of it is.

I tried every tips you mentioned here and still can’t get “Recent comments” to reappear.

It is not the program in the themes for we switched one of our other blogs the CalPatty Press to the same theme as Revenge of the Ghost Wolf and 15 comments display just fine on the side bar. Things that make you go hmmmm.
Our revenge of the Ghost Wolf site is getting slammed today, and it would be nice if our most recent comments could be found.
