Comments on static pages
-
I am using digg 3 and have several static pages on my blog/site. On these pages I have check off the ‘allow comments’ box but when I am on the site comments can only be made on the blog or ‘what we’re reading’ tab. What am I doing wrong? I have seen other digg 3 sites whose static pages have comments and I’d like my readers/visitors to be able to comment here as well/
Thanks in advance. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Open you static pages in the editor and make sure that “allow comments” is checked and make sure and click “update page” when done.

Also go to settings > discussion and make sure that under default article settings that “Allow people to post comments on new articles” is selected. If not, select it and then make sure and click “save changes” at the bottom of the page.

Thanks – I’ve checked both and they are checked correctly. I even unchecked, saved and rechecked and saved again and still no place to leave comments on any of the static pages. I believe leaving comments is possible as I’ve seen other digg 3 blogs that have comments on their static pages.
Okay, I just added a new ‘test’ page/tab and it is allowing comments! Do you think I should delete my pages then add them back? Odd isn’t it?! One should be able to allow and disallow comments at will by checking or unchecking the box on the page settings for discussion, right?
Any other suggestions other than deleting and recreating?
Thanks -
I would contact staff on this and ask them to look into it for you. You should be able to turn comments off and then on again without any issues. I’ve done it myself without issue.
The quickest solution of course is to delete them and then recreate them, but still ask staff to look into it. Perhaps some change recently made is causing issues.

Check Discussion Settings / Other comment settings / Automatically close comments on articles older than days xx.
If you have a value in here then comments will be barred even if the other settings given by tsp above are set.
If this is the problem you have two options:
1. Increase the number of days
or
2. Edit the pages in question and update the “published date”.
I have to do this for my own comment page every 50 days and had forgotten, so thanks for the reminder!
