Comments on the Home Page

Hello! I’m fairly new to WordPress so am still learning the ropes. While editing my site (which uses the Vantage theme), I’d really like it if my home page displayed my most recent posts with a comment box below each one. I’m picturing the home page being a navigation bar across the top, the most recent blog post shown first, and a comment box below but no previous comments shown on the home screen (since that could potentially take up too much space). It would also be nice if the number of comments on the post was displayed at the bottom. Is this something that’s possible?
