Comments – removing option

  • Unknown's avatar

    The comments on my blog are already disabled, but each post still offers users to ‘leave a comment’.

    If someone clicks on “leave a comment” at the bottom of each post it just refreshes the page.

    How do I remove the “leave a comment” after each post?

    The theme is Freshy.

    Thanks

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    It general it would require CSS editing experience and the paid CSS upgrade, but with the theme you are using, all three lines at the bottom of the posts are controlled from one place in the CSS, which means all three lines would disappear – comments, categories and tags.

    Thanks – upgrading is OK but is it straightforward to delete the relevant bit of code?

    As I said, with the theme you are using you lose a lot of stuff since it is all controlled from the same selector in the CSS. Do you want to also lose the categories and tags below the post?

    am I losing them completely or just the ability for people to view them (if you see what I mean)?

    Also I can have a categories widget on the right hand sidebar can’t I?

    Tags and catetories will still be listed in the sidebar and the posts will still be attached to them, they just won’t be visible underneath the post. If that is OK with you, then what you would do is to buy the CSS upgrade, then go to appearance > edit CSS make sure that “add to existing…” is selected, then clear everything from the CSS edit window and paste the following into that empty window:

    .postmetadata {
    display:none;
    }

    Click preview and you will see that the stuff is gone. Go back to the edit window and click “save.”

    Great – I’ll give it a go.

    Thanks for the help – it’s appreciated

    You’re welcome, and you can if you wish paste it into the CSS edit window right now and use the preview button to see what it will look like even before you buy the upgrade.

    Thanks – already completed it.

    I’d prefer to have the category underneath – would I have to get a different theme or can I add it in some way?

    No you would have to go to a different theme, and you may still have the same issue with the new theme – or it may bet worse and you might also lose the author and date as well. Each theme is a little different. Also, the code I gave you is for the theme you are using and will not likely work with other themes. It will be under something else in another theme.

    Very complicated – I guess it’ll stay as it is!

    Thanks
