Comments Submit Message?
-
I’m looking for a way to have the user receive a message after posting a comment to a moderated page.
Users are reporting confusion on a page of submitted stories that I’m working on when they post a comment. They would like to receive some feedback as to why their post didn’t appear, or where it went.
I would like to have something to the effect of “Thank you for your comment, we will review it for posting soon to make sure it isn’t spam. Legitimate posts will appear on the page shortly.”
Thanks, caleb [email removed, don’t feed the spammers – vanillalounge]

Your blog appears to be self-hosted. This forum is for WordPress.COM and where you want to be is http://wordpress.org/support/

Thanks for the quick reply. The blog is on wordpress.com, here: http://worldlearningnow.wordpress.com/inspiredtoact/
we’re in a quiet beta on this page, but it will go out to a wide audience soon.

You should change the link in your profile to your wordpress.COM blog as explained in the sticky, 8 Things, at the top of the forum. And NEVER leave your email address in the forums – it feeds the spammers. Mods, please remove.
As for your question – there is no way to add that. The information would be in the source files (HTML or php) that we do not have access to here at wordpress.COM.

Unless your comments have gone to spam, there’s always a bar at the top that says “Your comment is awaiting moderation.” Therefore there should be no need for a “thank you” comment to avoid confusion as there already is a line that tells them they have commented and their comment has not disappeared, albeit not as nicely.

Oh, I didn’t realise that. I guess I’ve been lucky with my themes then. So, sitstudyabroad, you should consider changing your theme :)
