Comments with Embedded Videos
-
I hope I can explain this.
Someone left a comment with a video that they thought interesting. This person had commented before so I did not have to moderate. The video goes along with the content of my blog, so I didn’t have a problem with it other than I would rather my blog not have videos directly on it. Since this, I have made any comment with youtube in it to be moderated and I will just not accept them. ( I am sure there are other video hosting sites, but I am not aware of them. )
Without deleting the comment already on my blog is there a way to edit the comment so that it would go to Youtube directly instead of it being embedded?Thank you very much.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, just change the URL (web address) of the youtube video, into a link. You can do that most easily via your comment administration page where you’ll be able to select the URL and turn it into a link via the Link button. Alternatively, do it manually. I’ve a short tutorial on how to do links in comments in my blog here: http://absurdoldbird.wordpress.com/free-stuff-from-me-to-you/how-to-type-a-link/
I personally hate having youtube videos in comments unless they suit the post itself which in many cases, they don’t.

I tried this and it didn’t work. I thought it might have been my browser, so I cleared the cache to see if it was just me.
This is how it shows on the edit page:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vhE8ScWe7w
But when on that page of my blog it still has the video. -

OK, I am afraid I will just keep making mistakes trying to show the code, so I won’t attempt it again. I had found the code button and closed it, so I don’t know what went wrong.
I can just live with the video on my blog as it isn’t offensive or anything. I just would have preferred a link only. That’s how it came to me in the email notification, so I was kind of surprised to see the embedded video in the comment on my blog. -

You can post just a link. It’s easy to do. This is the format for a link:
<a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here ie. the name of video</a> -

Thank you so very much, all of you. It worked. :) What I should have done was to give the link a name. That is what seemed to do the trick, instead of leaving the link itself.
