Comments with username links

I have noticed that when I make a comment on someone elses blog my comment will be rendered in a weird way. My screen name will be a link. I had assumed up until recently that the link went to my own blog. It doesnt. Links made from my screen name, on other peoples blogs, goes right back to the very article the comment is on.
But I have been to other blog sites and other wordpress-based blogs that arent hosted on this site, and other themes as well, in which the same screenname link on a comment will indeed go back to the commenters blog page, or other website.
I dont see any practical purpose for having my screenname turned into a link that goes back to the same article that the comment is under. Its retarded.
Its just pointless to have a link that goes nowhere. Its frustrating having a link associated with your screen name going to a blog you didnt write.
Is this a setting issue?
Dont get me wrong, Im not trying to advertise my own blog on other peoples pages. Although having a link on their pages to my blog would be nice, for anyone who sees my comment as intriguing and wants to see my blog and whatever else I might have to say. I understand that a link to mine would be beneficial. I just would rather there not be a link at all than one that goes nowhere.

ltess… thanks for that link. I did change the setting already, but unfortunately my screen name on the various comments I have made dont link to my blog still.

It’s not retroactive. Any comment you leave after you add the proper URL to your username will include a comment to your post, but every comment you’ve made in the past won’t.
