i understand that the commerce plan is 40 a month .. but are there any upfront costs as well?
and are there going to be additional costs for certain plugins?
any other hidden costs i should be aware of?
its a basic site for a diner … and we may do a loyalty program.. as well as make it possible to order takeout on the site (potentially connecting it to our TOAST system)

Hi there,
The Commerce plan is designed to work best for online shops and more. We also include a lot of paid WooCommerce extensions with the plan as you can see here:Choose the Commerce plan (formerly known as the Entrepreneur plan) for everything you need to create a powerful, profitable website to sell products and services. This guide explains what’s included in the WordPress.com Commerce plan. Looking forward to your reply!

other than basic text and images … and a daily specials update … I’m thinking to add a loyalty program where users can login and receive discounts via email every once in a while
the next thing would be letting users order takeout from the site …. and thats with or without syncing this order system with our inhouse toast system
Im presenting all this to the owner so i really need clear cut pricing with no surprises

Hey there,
Thanks for reaching out, and happy to give you a clear breakdown of what to expect cost-wise for your diner’s site!
The Commerce plan cost
The Commerce plan starts at $45/month when billed annually (or $70/month if billed monthly). There are no setup fees or upfront costs beyond the plan itself. It also includes a free domain for the first year, which saves you a little extra.
Transaction fees
The Commerce plan lets you sell confidently with zero transaction fees. That said, your payment processor (e.g., WooPayments or Stripe) will still apply their standard card processing fees per transaction. Those are set by the processor, not by WordPress.com.
What’s already included
The plan comes with a suite of handpicked WooCommerce extensions built right in, covering products, payments, marketing, shipping, and taxes. Extension updates roll out automatically, so there’s no extra plugin management needed.
Loyalty program (additional cost)
A loyalty program isn’t included in the base plan, but you can add one via the WooCommerce Marketplace. WooCommerce Points and Rewards lets customers earn points on purchases and redeem them for discounts, which is exactly the kind of program you’re describing. It costs $179/year.
Online takeout ordering (additional cost)
For online ordering, Restaurant for WooCommerce is a dedicated extension that turns your store into a full online menu and food ordering system. It costs $149/year. For additional functionality, you can browse the WooCommerce Marketplace for more options.
TOAST POS sync
A native WooCommerce integration with TOAST is not currently available. It is an open feature request on the WooCommerce roadmap. For now, connecting WooCommerce with TOAST would require a custom integration or a third-party middleware tool, which would involve developer work and costs that vary depending on the approach.
There are other POS solutions you could consider, though.
Please note that all WooCommerce.com extensions come with a 30-day money-back guarantee if you don’t find them useful.
Should you need any more details or have more questions, we’re available and happy to assist!
Best,
