I recently joined mediamelon and i was migrating the companies site i.e http://www.mediamelon.com to wordpress. But when i put our company domain in setup section it shows me ‘This domain is already mapped to a WordPress.com site.’
I need to understand who has created the same domain. Can you help me with this ?

    Self-declared URL: http://www.mediamelon.com
    Jetpack: Unknown
    WP.com: Unknown

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

I just checked and found that the domain is already connected to a WordPress.com site created on a different WordPress.com account. The domain is not configured yet, so it’s not loading the WordPress.com site when you access it. But a Domain Connection has been added for this domain to a WordPress.com site.

I don’t see any subscriptions on the WordPress.com account @vineetkb5b4b3d317 you’re posting from.

I can’t share details due to security reasons, but there’s a WordPress.com site with the Business plan that has the domain mediamelon.com added to it already. You’ll have access to it if you log into the correct WordPress.com account, though I can’t be sure if that account belongs to you or someone else in your organization.

Do you have another WordPress.com account? Or does someone else besides you work on migrating the site to WordPress.com?

Hi @aisajib Thank you or responding. I did check with folks internally but nobody has the memory of creating a wordpress site for the domain http://www.mediamelon.com. It might have been created by someone who is no longer with mediamelon. I was planning to buy a business account and set up a new site for mediamelon but then i am blocked because of this issue. Is there no other way i can understand which email is it associated with ? If i get the email i can reactivate it and change the admin for wordpress account and set up the new site.

Any advices on How to move forward?

Hi @vineetkb5b4b3d317, that is a tricky situation. The other site has active upgrades (even though the domain isn’t pointed here yet) so we can’t just cancel the connection. It already has a Business Plan with some months to go:

I have a few ideas though:

    • I’ve tried sending a “password reset” to the owner. Can you check to see who got that?
    • If no one who is currently with your company got that, did your company at least pay for the upgrades? If so, you can likely recover access using the Account Recovery process outlined here. You’d just need a transaction ID from a payment.
    • As one more idea, if the former admin is gone, could you possibly check in with your mail provider to see if any messages from our services are bouncing? Or, if you know who the old web admin was, could you gain access to that address?

Please let us know whether one of these options helps, or whether you’re still stuck. We’ll figure something out!
