Company misleading me into a purchase using WordPress name and refuse a refund

Hi I was planning on building a site with WordPress so I signed up to WordPress.com.

Whilst I was receiving emails from WordPress I came across WPDATING.COM and looked upon there site believing it was part of WordPress.

Later the company emailed me with prices of a WordPress Dating Plugin with prices the company used your name very clearly I can send you the invoice to show there exact description claimed.

Believing it was WordPress I purchased the item which was supposed to be easy to install and no coding or experience needed it wasn’t true it cost me 780.00 USD.

I’m disabled and I’m not working I purchased the item for my Son as it was to difficult to use I requested a refund.

I even sent the company my medical records from hospital and specialist whom refused to accept given a refund.

I did think it was WordPress I was dealing with and you have 14 day cancellation policies.

However WPDATING.COM do not have a refund policy only if you find the item faulty.

I told them it is faulty and not discribed as it is not easy to use nor is it WordPress whom I thought I was dealing with.

Its been over 2 months my bank raised a charge back for fraud but they made an error as I did accept it myself so I don’t wish to make false statements.

So the bank returned the money to WPDATING.COM what I am asking WordPress can you contact the company that are using your name in emails and documentation and ask them can they kindly refund there customers and be fair in business.

This company has used your WordPress goodwill and extorted me of £780.00 USD.

Im a seriously disabled with a chronic condition and recipient of government disability benifits i reside in the United Kingdom.

WPDATING is a US company so getting my money is impossible really.

Can you help i can send you the presale document showing the company using your name and goodwill reall i have been cheated and i have literally had to try and beg for a refund but WPDATING are simply laughing at me i feel
so abussed by them do you have a email in which i can send you some documentation for your attention.
My email is (email visible only to moderators and staff) and WPDATING email is (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    Please kindly help

WordPress.com can’t do much about your refund as wordpress.com is in no way related to wpdating. WPDating is a plugin build for the open source software wordpress.org so there is nothing wrong when they mention wordpress. You could get help from a lawyer, but I’m afraid it will you only cost more money.

  • You can dispute the charge through your banking or credit provider. It is required that folks be able to refund as easily as they can purchase something online from American companies. It sounds like WP DATING is in violation of that. I wish there was more I could do to help. The bank is your best way forward.
