  Hi. I´m a writer and i´m new in WP. I´m about to buy a nice theme for my new blog. I like this one:

  https://themeforest.net/item/readolog-minimal-blogging-theme/8787924?ref=sheamedia

  At the right of the page that i sent you, is the theme info. Where it says ‘Software Version’ it says, i thing, the WP version that this theme supports. Is this theme compatible with my blog. Is there some problem, now or in the future that i must know about?
  I want to have a great experience here and i don´t want to waste my money.

  Hello

  There’s two different types of WordPress. If you want to host your blog on WordPress.com (the site behind this forum), then you’ll need to select from the themes listed at https://wordpress.com/themes/. There are some theme on that that have some features and design similar to the Theme Forest theme that you selected.

  If you’d like to use the theme from Theme Forest, you’ll need to have a self-hosted WordPress site (also known as WordPress.org).

  To learn more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org (self-hosted), take a look at http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  Thanks.
  So, if i buy a theme from here: https://wordpress.com/themes/ what happens when, in the future, i go to .org? Can this theme be used in .org?

  Hi.

  It depends on what theme you are looking at.

  The Premium Theme Guidelines say:

  Note: Premium Themes that are set up for WordPress.com use only cannot be transferred to self-hosted WordPress.org sites. Some Automattic-developed Premium themes can be transferred to a self-hosted site at no charge, as part of a Guided Transfer. Please post in the Premium theme forums if you’d like to know whether your theme qualifies.

  You can read more about the above mentioned Guided Transfer at https://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/

  Many of the free themes on WordPress.com are available for use on a self-hosted site. You can confirm that a free theme is available for self-hosted/.org site by looking at the very bottom of the right hand column on the theme details page (such as https://wordpress.com/themes/rebalance/) where you’ll find a link similar to “Download Rebalance for your self-hosted WordPress site.”
