Complete CSS Customization – an example

I’ll try to get my front page show bits of my posts then, for my blogging muse Miss Raincoaster.
-
Agree with raincoaster – I like the clean layout, but need a lead paragraph, an ingress. Doesn’t have to be more than a line of two, but otherwise I’ll not bother clicking through.
-
Thanx for the input guys! I’ll sit in front of that css editor as soon as i got time today.

Okay y’all. If you were to examine my blog you would see that it is rather dull and lifeless despite the prophetic wisdom that it contains. As I look at some of the cool shit you guys can do, I am at a loss. Is it as simple as getting the CSS editor and learning to use it? I love the cool artsy stuff you guys can do on the top with your blog names and I am curious about what skins are and how to use them. I guess what I need is a quick reply reaffirming that the CSS editor will give visual appeal that we lack.

If you ever considered getting a Mac, do so. If you have get CSSEdit from MacRabbit. It’s extremely helpful in rapidly examinig and developing CSS. Also, dive into W3Schools’ tutorials. I do a lot with an image editor and CSSEdit. When I think it looks cool I paste the result into WordPress’ CSS editor.

if you don’t know css, it’s better not to get it. there’s no official support for css upgrade save the few volunteers with some knowledge, and they can’t help everyone all the time. you should learn how css works, since we are able to use the css editor for free and preview our work (you need the upgrade to appear to save your css and display it), so once you got the hang of it then maybe you could get it. however, there are some css skins available for free such as http://ntuat.wordpress.com, where you just copy and paste. but best to know a bit of css all the same.
-
sulz right. don’t buy if you’re not ready. don’t even let your spouse buy it for you. even though it’s only 15 dollars and you can buy 1000 css upgrade all at once.

An important notice for Sandbox theme users:

While we’re pimping our blogs, here’s what I did to the Andreas09 theme:

Would anyone with IE7 at hand take a look at my blog and tell me about bad stuff going on? I already know that it’s utterly broken in IE6.
-
Looks fine to me, delta. The tag cloud looks good, the slide show works, nothing looks out of place or proportion. Is there a specific element you’re wondering about?
-
It looks okay to me, too. A quick comparison with FF3 shows that the tag cloud in IE7 is a little bit squashed, though still readable, and the footer doesn’t look as neat. But everything else looks fine and the site is still very usable and lovely.
