Complete Domain Transfer?

I’ve purchased a domain transfer for my site, but needed to wait 60 days to finalize it. Does anyone know how to complete the domain transfer that I already started (and paid for) — WITHOUT going premium? Thank you!

  • Hi there,

I’ve purchased a domain transfer for my site, but needed to wait 60 days to finalize it

Domain transfers take only a week to complete from the time you submit your transfer code at your new registrar, and many registrars give you the option to manually accept a transfer and bypass that waiting period.

The only time where you’d need to wait 60 days is if it’s a brand new domain – new domains cannot be transferred between registrars for 60 days after registration. This is an ICANN regulation that all domain registrars must adhere to.

rivetcounterrestorations.com was registered on 1 May 2022, and you bought the domain transfer on 2 May, so at that time the domain wasn’t eligible for transfer. But by this point your domain has been outside of that initial transfer lock period for two weeks now.

Does anyone know how to complete the domain transfer that I already started (and paid for) — WITHOUT going premium?

I see you cancelled the domain transfer upgrade a few weeks after you’d bought it, so you no longer own that upgrade. As you never started the actual transfer process, I’ve refunded the payment you’d made for that upgrade.

If you still want to transfer that domain to us, you can buy a new domain transfer upgrade at Upgrades ->Domains in the dashboard. But please note that using your own domain on WordPress.com does require a paid plan. Without a plan the domain will only redirect to your free WordPress.com address, and your site will not appear at the domain itself.
