Complete newb, having problem logging in

  I have just registered an account today and had a friend make me a blog that is self-hosted. When I go to log in to the blog through the main site, it doesn’t recognize my log-in, and when I request a new password by email, it says my email is not registered. I am also not seeing my blog in my dashboard, nor am I finding a way to add on that is self-hosted.

  Am I asking this in the wrong place? Am I using the wrong log-in? Am I a complete idiot?(don’t answer that)

  I am completely lost here, and I am hoping that it is just that I’m a newb and not that I messed something up.

  Please advise
