Complete site gets 404 on Blog Posts and Custom Pages
-
PROBLEM
All posts and custom pages raise a 404 error from the home pageMESSAGE
The requested URL /20XX/11/05/november-20XX/ was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.TECHNICAL
Linux server host, custom pages are PHP-generated XML / XSL transforms, required plugins for theme and XML / XSLT transforms installedDETAILS
I have a site that I initially set up on a Windows host server, and it worked fine until I wanted to move the WordPress blog application from a down-level folder to the root. This led to trying to update the SQL database, and that failed. This was three days ago, so I moved the entire site over to a Linux server-based web host, and after some challenges with the initial set up and install, the entire site is now uploaded to the new location — including the SQL database.
However, all of the posts and custom pages throw a 404 error.
[x] – I have checked the wp-config.php file to make sure that the database settings are correct and reflect the change
[x] – I have updated to the latest version of WordPress — which helped in a big way (before I was getting a white screen)
[x] – I have uploaded and installed the themes and plugins I use
The error raised acts like the database is not getting called correctly.
Q. What are the next steps to fix this?
