Complete WP newbie – Few queries
-
Hi all
I want to create a site and everyone said use WP, so am trying to do one using the .com free site just to play around etc before upgrading to the premium plan.
I am finding it a bit difficult but am getting there, but have a couple of queries which I am sure have easy answers if anyone can help pls.
When I edit the home page and add new blocks etc, they don’t automatically show up on any other page, how do I enable this please? It happens for the footer blocks, but not sidebar.
Also, on any tag link or archive link, the header and the footer have doubled up, yet looks fine when not clicking on one of these links, how would I fix this pls? Example – https://i.postimg.cc/0jpYndsm/Capture.png
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there!
Well, first of all, welcome! I think it’s a great idea to get familiar with the WordPress editor by using a free WordPress.com site before upgrading. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the WordPress.com Support page. It’s a great place to get a lot of the common questions you may have about WordPress Editor. Especially if you are a new user.
It sounds like you’re using one of the site editor themes as opposed to a classic theme, so any reference to Site Editor in the WordPress.com support pages would likely apply to the theme you’re using.
The main thing to remember with the site editor themes is that you’re building templates and template parts which you then apply to your individual pages or posts. So, if you have a footer that you’re editing and it’s changing on every page then that likely means you have that footer applied to all of your templates. Things like your header, footer, site logo, and sidebar items are typically ones that you want to design in the site editor under the Appearance tab. Then, when you apply that template from the editor to an individual page, those items will automatically apply to the page and the page itself will only need to be edited with the page’s actual content (paragraphs, images, forms, etc.) I’ve attached one of WordPress.com guides to go over the site editor.
I hope you find this helpful!
Using the Site Editor, you can design everything on your site using blocks, from the header right down to the footer. This guide will show you around the editor. Access the Site Editor To visit the Site Editor, follow these steps: Start from your site’s dashboard. Locate Appearance on the left side. Click on Editor. If you do not see Editor here, your theme does not support
