Completely delete and recreate both gravatar.com and wordpress.com accounts
-
I would like to buy the WordPress Value Bundle along with some Premium Themes for starting some new projects. However, before this, I would like to reset my account to its defaults and start from scratch (completely delete and recreate both gravatar.com and wordpress.com accounts), and I would not like to do the steps listed at: http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/ to preserve my username (rcvalle).
Blog url: http://rcvalle.wordpress.com -
You can quickly remove your contents by deleting them in bulk.
Alternatively, we can empty the whole blog for you, but that will remove all data including posts, pages, tags, categories, comments, and uploaded files.
Once deleted, the data cannot be recovered. If you are sure you want to proceed, please reply to confirm the name of the blog you want us to empty.

Yes, I confirm. The blog is rcvalle.wordpress.com. In addition, I also want to reset all configuration for both gravatar.com and wordpress.com accounts to its defaults.
-
We can’t reset the account settings to their defaults, but I have emptied http://rcvalle.wordpress.com/ as requested.
-
Well, actually this does not help much, because this was not the purpose of my original request, and the blog was already empty (i.e. never was used).

I want to undo all the configuration changes I’ve made in those accounts–which I don’t remember, and remove all history associated with them for my new projects. In other words, completely delete (even Gravatar images) and recreate both gravatar.com and wordpress.com accounts.
-
Unfortunately, that can’t be done. For that, you would need to create a new account, but you wouldn’t be able to use the same username.
-
Well, this is a shame and shows all users and customers how much control you have over our data. Maybe I should consider switching to another platform, and also do my employer, which is a wordpress.com VIP customer.

Hi there,
It’s not possible to reset your account settings to the defaults, but you’re more than welcome to change any of the data or settings that you’d like. You can change your account-specific data on just a couple of pages.
For example, you can change your profile information at Users -> My Profile, and your personal settings at Users -> Personal Settings.
-
I’ve changed my blog and username to ‘rcvalle1’. However, now I can’t create a new account with the ‘rcvalle’ username, nor on gravatar.com, neither here.
-
When you switched usernames, you checked the option to delete the original username.
I may be able to recover the original name, but I can’t make any promises (the inability to recover a deleted account was listed as a warning), and I’ll at least need you to provide a new email address to link it to.

staff-blorbo: I’ve created an email alias (i.e. (email visible only to moderators and staff)), and changed both the username and email on gravatar.com and wordpress.com to ‘rcvalle1’ and ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff)’ respectively. However, I wasn’t able to create a new account as I expected. Use the previous email ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff)’. Thanks.

I have recovered your rcvalle account to the best of my abilities, it should still work.
You may need to check your email for a confirmation message first. Also, you may need to reset your password via http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

staff-blorbo: It seems that unintentionally you made what I was asking since the beginning, a new account. However, the rcvalle1 (old) account has the two blogs associated, the rcvalle.wordpress.com and rcvalle1.wordpress.com. If I delete or rename the rcvalle.wordpress.com from the rcvalle1 (old) account, can I recreate it in the rcvalle (new) account?
-
No, don’t delete anything else.
Instead, move the blogs following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
-
Finally. It seems everything is on its place now. I’m going to upgrade the new account to Pro. Thanks.
