Completely Messed Up Front Page
-
All widgets on the right sidebar suddenly disappear. AND the Sapphire theme has turned into a dark background presentation in Firefox with only the links having enough contrast to stand out.
The sidebar has still disappeared in IE, but the colors are accurate.
Started all of a sudden this evening, posting this in case I am not the only one.

You have some images that are too wide for the post area which are breaking the theme. Sapphire has a maximum image width of 446px in a post: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/how-big-can-my-images-be/ .

Holy CRAP, that’s bad. Did you see the latest post on the front page with everything okay, or did this show up after you posted it?

As a matter of fact, all the post look clean on the main page. No missing tags or anything. I expect the problem is with the images.
-
I’ve never seen an image problem create that weird unreadability before, but there’s sure no harm in fixing them.
-
I have with that particular theme. When it breaks, it takes the post container background out, which is what I suspect happened and now the posts are just set against the main dark background.

This started on it’s own, well after the long “monday” post….
The images that are too wide have been up for weeks with no problems. Weird.
Just going to use another theme for now.
-
Who knows why this happens. Perhaps WordPress is doing some theme updates that we are not aware of. Likely we will never know.
-
It’s a pity you changed the theme, so that I can’t see what was wrong. Which theme was causing problems? I see you wrote “most of them”, so there must be something in the code of your monday post or of the sidebar. What I can see just looking quickly through the code of the monday post is a solitary open div tag
<div align="center">
at the very beginning. Delete it and see if it makes things better. -
Heh… Isadora, you did it…. Thanks!
It was the Sapphire theme… the background went dark and the widgets disappeared, they were not even at the bottom of the page. I think the change that did it was when I divided the long post into an above/below the fold, but I still swear I loaded it several times before it went haywire.
Awesome.
