Complication with export-import of blog to alternative blog site

    Hi WordPress,

I’ve just completed the export-import of my blog ubedaenglish.wordpress.com to my other blog location, that of jonlindsaymiles.com, but, due to not understanding the implications of my selection of “add to”, I imported it into jonlindsaymiles… and now find it appears on that page. (Excuse my lack of understanding of these things.)

The alternative choice “import to Admin” or similar, didn’t mean anything to me, but I’m now assuming that was the right choice to maintain all the data as a separate blog… or perhaps not, I don’t know.

But this is what I intended (and I imported ubedaenglish as I often find it difficult and cumbersome to try to log out of one blog to then enter the other location), to maintain ubedaenglish as a distinct blog from jonlindsaymiles – as is immigrantpress.org.

Is there any way to recover this step and import everything to its own still distinct and separate blog but under the same username entry point and pin? I’ve already tried to register ubedaenglish again as a new blog (I will lose all my contacts if I register a new name) and, as I anticipated, I cannot do this.

    Thanks for any help.

  • The only way would be to completely empty http://jonlindsaymiles.com/ of all content, then try the import again.

Unfortunately, there’s no option more precise than just removing everything, including content that existed before the import (if any).
