Complications with moving to self-hosted WordPress.
-
Hullo.
I bought the domain boundbyfiction.com for WordPress.com, but I wanted to migrate it to a WordPress.org for plugins and other such things.
I’ve already got everything set up over at GoDaddy.com with Linux cPanel hosting. They walked me through creating a temporary sub-domain to use while I get everything situated, called ‘new.boundbyfiction.com’. And I can go back to my normal domain once everything’s over with.
I’ve exported the files from my WordPress.com site.
I’m not sure where to import them via my GoDaddy site. Or how the rest of it works.
As it stands, clicking the wp-admin link for my ‘new.boundbyfiction.com’ domain leads me directly to my boundbyfiction.com WordPress.com site, with a ‘page not found’. Same goes for the regular domain. Nothing’s changed, so can’t add any plugins or the like.
Obviously not what I want. So how do I go about shifting the “com” to the “org”?
